America's Next Top Model upgrades judges

New, cycle 15 of America's Next Top Model, which premieres September 8, will host hight profile fashion names - photographer Patrick Demarchelier, photographer-director Matthew Rolston, and designers Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen and Roberto Cavalli will offer critiques.

The magazine's editor, tastemaker Franca Sozzani, will also serve as a guest judge, and the winner will appear in a six to eight page spread in the magazine early next year, as well as another spread in the May 2011 supplement, Beauty in Vogue. Previous winners have appered in more consumer-firendly Marie Claire, Jane and Elle.

The show has dropped in ratings in recent years. Last season averaged 3.3 million viewers compared to its high of 5 million in 2004.

Diane von Furstenberg designs Ohio hospital gowns

Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg has helped the Cleveland Clinic create stylish hospital gown without the peek-a-boo back.

The gown features elements associated with von Furstenberg designs — a wrap dress with a bold, graphic print. The clinic's logo is printed on the fabric.

38-year old Hollywood beauty Eva Mendes proves once again she has a great sense of humour as she poses in sexy, yet eccentric photoshoot for VS magazine. Eva posed in a mental institution only two years after she entered one for „personal issues“.

Why is Lady Gaga celibate?

Check the cver of September's issue of Vanity Fair. The lady herself – Lady Gaga – talks about fashion, drug addiction and staying celibate to avoid depleting of her creative energy. „I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they're going to take my creativity from me through my vagina,“ she said to magazines contributing editor Lisa Robinson. Interesting. For more juicy Gaga statements, we will just have to wait and read in the next issue of VF.

The collection will be launched in January 2011, with its 75-piece line, which will be sold in top deparment stores and online on pascalmouawad.com. Faces of New York Fashion Week

From September 9 to 15 New York City’s Bryant Park will once again be the world’s center for fashion. While designers will be introducing their spring/summer 2011 ideas, we focused on new model faces, who will be presenting new trends. Doutzen, Anja, Lakshimi will this year be joined by Bambi, Fei Fei and Kat. These are just some of the new names we will be seeing next week. During this weekend casting directors will be deciding whom they want on their runways. Most desired trend today is toward pouty lips, thick eyebrows, curves and a bit of a pale androgynous look.

Next week it will all be about the “girls”. So stay tuned.

 

Fashion’s Night Out is Sexy!!

Big names in fashion were just announced to walk down the catwalk on September 7’s Fashion’s Night Out: The Show at Lincoln Center. Supermodels Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell and Adriama Lima are among the big names for the show. The show is considered to be the largest in the history of the event, the one-hour public fashion show, the host of the show is Andre Leon Talley who will be commenting designers like DKNY, Tom Ford, Vera Wang and more.

 

Zara launches online store

Zara just launched its first ever onlin store in hope to attract its army of 4.5 million Facebook fans. The famous Spanish label will sell garments at identical prices to stores, charging £3.95 for home delivery. The clothes ordered online will also be available to be picked up free of charge at shops. The online store is opened for UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Germany. Inditex Group, who ownes Zara, Massimo Dutti and Bershka plans to make the last two brands available online in US, Japan and South Korea next year. H&M first put its business online in 2006 in the Netherlands and plans to launch its British online store in September. 

Lanvin and H&M - official collaboration

It's just been announced that Lanvin will be the one making a new women and men collection for H&M. The line will  designed by Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver and will be in stores November 23. We are looking forward to this!

Latest fashion fixation - cross-dressing

Yes, you read correctly. And the photo above is Lady Gaga in her androgynous look.

If last autumn was all about man being “womanized”, the 2010 fall fashion in on women dressing as men. We could say the trend was pushed forward by Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga’s stylist, who helped the rising singer developing her alter ego and popularize extravagant, “she-got-balls”, almost theatrical cross-dressing. Judge for yourselves, I think ones imagination should have no limits.

Salma Hayek - hmm could this be one of the worst outfits this summer?

Salma Hayek showed her figure last night after stepping out of the restaurant in LA and left most of us shocked. Personally I love Salma and I consider her one of the divas when it comes to choosing clothes. But this is a miss. Now for a woman who is married to a PPR founder and first man it is a bit of a shock. With all those freebies flying around her there simply is no excuse for this. 

FYI - Hayek's husband Francois-Henri Pinault is in head of PPR, who's main subsidiaries include: The Gucci Group (Gucci, Balenciaga, YSL, Sergio Rossi, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Puma), to name only the fashio brands.
